MINUTES
The Committee will meet THURSDAY, April 28, 2011
- Call to Order. Committee Chairperson, Elizabeth Hachten called the meeting to order at 2:20 P.M. in White Hall 6c.
- Roll Call. Present: Paul Adogamhe; David Cartwright; Ellen Davis; Jolly Emrey; Paul Gregory; Elizabeth Hachten; Angela Harlan; Debra Heiber; Paul House; Emma Kuby (Rep. Molly Patterson); Natalie Lamkin (for Elaine Wagner); Elizabeth Olson; Trudi Witonsky; and Jim Winship (Rep. Sarah Hessenauer). Absent: Rex Hanger; Jeff Heinrich; Sarah Hessenauer*; Paul Gregory; Pilar Melero; Molly Paterson*; Steve Sahyun; Ellie Schemenauer; Luke Schalewski; Faryn Standiford; and Elaine Wagner*.
- Announcements. Hachten announced that the “Receive and Record” portion of the meeting would commence prior to the other agenda items to accommodate Winship needing to leave the meeting early.
- Receive and Record. Olson/Witonsky moved to receive and record the following proposals:
- Prerequisite changes for the following courses:
- Change in the following Chemistry Major Emphases to replace CHEM 456 with CHEM 454:
The motion passed unanimously.
- Approval of Minutes. The minutes of the April 14, 2011 meeting were approved as distributed on a Davis/Emrey motion.
- Approval of Proposals.
- Kuby/Cartwright moved to approve the following History proposal:
The motion passed unanimously.
- Emrey/Olson moved to approve the following Political Science proposal:
The motion did not go to vote.
- Cartwright/Emrey moved to approve the following Political Science proposal:
- New Course POLISCI265 “Politics of Terrorism and Counterterrorism” with the “friendly amendment” to remove the un-requisite designation from the equivalent Sociology, Anthropology, Criminal Justice (Soc, Anthro, CJ) course. Emrey and Hachten will work with the Soc, Anthro, CJ Department to remove such designation.
The motion passed unanimously.
- Special Studies/Travel Studies Proposals Received. Hachten reported that her office had received a proposal from the Biological Sciences Department for Travel Study Course, 491 “YNP & UGP Nat. Hist. Tour”.
- Adjournment. The meeting adjourned at 2:45 P.M. on an Adogamhe/House motion.
