Assessment Day 2013
Proposal Instructions
Please select one of the following themes for your proposal. If you are not sure where (or if) your proposal fits best, please contact Joan Cook.
- Academic Transformation Projects: Updates on the status of academic transformation projects at UWW. What transformations were made and what impact did they have on student learning?
- LEAP: Where are we now? Updates on LEAP projects from previous years and work on LEAP ELOs and HIPs. What impact have the projects had on students, faculty or staff, campus? What is the status of the projects, and what are the next steps you would suggest?
- Inclusive Excellence: Projects or activities that assess educational opportunities for underrepresented students; enhance teaching, learning, or assessment in the areas of diversity; or improve recruitment and retention of students, faculty, or staff.
- Unit/Program/Department Assessment: Projects or activities that describe strategies or tools for engaging faculty or staff in assessment activities; strategies, tools, systematic approaches for assessing learning outcomes or progress toward achieving program goals; or results of these projects. Posters on interdisciplinary programs or on GenEd program assessment can be included here.
- Class is in Session: Strategies, tools, or assignments developed for specific courses (including GenEd core courses). What was the process used to design these items? How were they tested and how well did they work? What advice do you have for others who are working to design good assessments for their classes?
- Rubrics: Why & How? Projects or activities that have lead to or helped in the development of assessment rubrics, either specific to a class assignment or more general rubrics for assessing program learning outcomes. Why was a rubric used, and how useful did it end up being? Help others navigate the process (and avoid the pitfalls) of designing a rubric.
- Closing That Darn Loop: Projects, activities, or observations of how assessment data are being used to impact student learning, curricula, program structure, or unit effectiveness. How are we making use of the data collected?
- Accreditations: Many of our programs have achieved accreditation from their disciplinary accrediting bodies. How have your program accomplished the assessment requirements for your accreditation? How do your accreditation goals align with LEAP?
