Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
Beverly A. Kopper was named Provost and Vice Chancellor at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater effective March 29, 2010. Dr. Kopper came to UW-Whitewater from the University of Northern Iowa where she had served as the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and previously in other administrative positions. Dr. Kopper is a Professor of Psychology with her Ph.D. and M.S. in Counseling Psychology from Iowa State University. She also has her M.S. in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her B.A. in Psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Roles and Responsibilities
The Office of Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs oversees the internal affairs at the university and is charged with the development, implementation, and assessment of academic policies and programs. The Provost works with the directors of units including Academic Support Services, Information Technology, the Academic Advising and Exploration Center, Admissions, International Studies, Institutional Research, the Honors Program, the Registrar's Office, the University Library, Research and Sponsored Programs, and Undergraduate Research. As Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the Provost serves as the chief academic officer of the university, its colleges and schools. The office coordinates activities of academic deans for the Colleges of Arts and Communication, Business and Economics, Education and Professional Studies, and Letters and Sciences, and the School of Graduate Studies and Continuing Education. The Provost informs and advises the Chancellor on all academic matters and plays a primary role in institutional planning and operations. In the absence of the Chancellor, the Provost serves as acting Chancellor.
