Re-imagining the First Year

UW-Whitewater is honored to be one of 44 campus teams who have been chosen to participate in the Reimagining the First Year (RFY) Project through the Association of American State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) UWW (campus application) is one of 44 colleges and universities chosen for  this national project (  This project aims to significantly improve the quality of learning and student experience in the first year and beyond with special emphasis on eliminating achievement barriers for low income, first generation, and students of color.  For more on the AASCU project, please visit or "Nothing is Written: Re-imagine the First Year of College" by George L. Invitation to participate in Faculty/Staff Focus Groups on Mentoring- March 2017

You are invited to participate in a voluntary focus group discussion on how students are supported here at UW-Whitewater facilitated by UW-Whitewater faculty from across campus.

 As you may know, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater was chosen as one of 44 institutions to participate in the Reimaging the First Year of College project initiative “to develop a comprehensive, institutional transformation that redesigns the first year of college and creates sustainable change for student success” (AASCU website 2016)[1]. As part of the work of the faculty/staff task force of UWW’s initiative, this study will explore the ways faculty and staff perceive their roles in supporting students at the UWW.

During this meeting, you will have the opportunity to share demographic information as well as your experiences of supporting students, in a casual environment and with complete confidentiality.

This 1.5-hour long focus group will be offered on 6 different dates in hopes of accommodating as many schedules as possible. If you are willing to participate please click on the link below to select your top 3 choices of when you are available to participate by March 1st, 2017
