Progress on Strategic Planning Goals 2010-2012
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater holds itself to a high standard, and seeks to compete as one of the region's top universities. Throughout the last two years, we have pursued programs and initiatives in key areas that we believe will help us maintain and improve upon this level of excellence.
PROGRAMS AND LEARNING
Goal 1: Identify and implement means for integrating our shared baccalaureate learning outcomes into our curricular processes, co-curricular planning, the general education review process, LEARN Center programming, and the audit and review process
Goal 2: Develop an institutional approach to recruiting, matriculating, retaining, and graduating non-traditional student populations through enhancement of services for non-traditional populations, and expansion of curricula and co-curricular programs targeted for non-traditional students.
THE SCHOLAR-EDUCATOR COMMUNITY
Goal 1: Develop a process for promoting and chronicling the value of expanding applied and community-based research projects, including identification of and evaluation of community impact dimensions.
DIVERSITY AND GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES
Goal 1: Identify ways to better blend internationalism and multiculturalism, and increase understanding of these commitments as central university curricular and co-curricular priorities.
Goal 2: Identify, examine, and support models for success for “students of opportunity.”
Goal 1: Identify ways to better connect units in the university with the technology park, and better foster entrepreneurial activity throughout the university.
Goal 2: Identify ways to better foster the reputation and visibility of the UW-Whitewater as a resource to the region.
PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL INTEGRITY
Goal 1: Assess the extent to which we are perceived to be student and/or client oriented, as we claim.
Goal 2: Develop long-term strategies to address challenges related to faculty/staff compensation and workload.
