Scott Bradley seconded the motion, which also carried.

John Washbush moved to approve a number of proposed revisions in the UW-W Curriculum Handbook. These revisions had been suggested by a committee consisting of the Chair of the UCC, the Chairs of the College Curriculum Committees, and the Chair of the Graduate Council, to align our campus procedures with new UW-System policies (ACIS-1). George Ferencz seconded the motion. In the discussion that followed, Richard Salem spoke to several resolutions passed by the College of Letters and Sciences Curriculum Committee. Dick Telfer noted that the resolutions did not strictly concern the revisions; instead, the resolutions addressed aspects of the Handbook that had not been revised. The sense of the UCC was to consider the resolutions within the discussion of the proposed revisions.

An amendment was proposed by Phil Johns and seconded by Janet Thatcher to modify Form 2, Change in Degree, Major, or Submajor, to add a line addressing program deletions. This change would also be reflected by the addition of an additional line (beneath Change in Submajor) on the Undergraduate Curriculum Approval Procedures Matrix, with the same notations as Change in Submajor. The amendment passed.

Lance Urven moved to amend the main motion to allow appeals of "curricular approval/disapproval" decisions made by the College Curriculum Committees or College Deans. The motion was seconded by Phil Johns.

The UCC returned to the main motion: to approve revisions in the UW-Whitewater Curriculum Handbook. The main motion, as amended, passed.

An additional resolution was forwarded by the College of Letters and Sciences Curriculum Committee: That the University Curriculum Committee should develop policies and procedures regarding the role of distance learning in the University curriculum, and the approval processes, timetabling and recording of distance learning courses. This resolution was tabled until the next meeting on a Mike Longrie/Lance Urven motion.

At 3:54 p.m., the meeting adjourned on a John Washbush/George Ferencz motion.
