Larry Schuetz called the meeting to order at 2:18 p.m.
George Ferencz moved to approve the agenda. Mary Margaret Hosler seconded the motion which carried.
George Ferencz moved, and Mike Longrie seconded, approval of the April 9, 1999 minutes. The motion carried.
Larry Schuetz noted that the courses from the Geography Department listed on the last agenda had been modified to reflect the actual course numbers and were listed correctly within the minutes.
The college-wide proposal from the College of Business and Economics to change the Bachelor of Business Administration Degree with a change in effective date to Fall 2000 was approved on a Mary Margaret Hosler/Marilyn Lavin motion.
Mary Margaret Hosler moved to approve the Accounting proposal to change the Bachelor of Business Administration - Accounting Degree. Marilyn Lavin seconded the motion but the motion failed and the proposal was sent to the department for additional information.
Scott Bradley moved to receive and record the Communicative Disorders Department's proposal for a change in requisite for 510-210 as well as the change in requisite and repeatability for course 510-460(660). (An editorial correction was made to change the effective date to Spring 2000.) Lance Urven seconded the motion and the motion carried.
The Geography Department's change in the Geography Minor was approved on a Lance Urven / Dieudonne Phanord motion.
Tom Colwin moved, and Dieudonne Phanord seconded, to approve the History Department's course revision proposals for 740-371 and 740-372. The motion failed and the courses were sent back to the Department for additional information.
The cross-listed new course proposal from the Languages and Literatures Department and the Theatre Department, 133/680-377 Introduction to Playwriting, (originally listed as 680-377/133-310) was approved on a Mike Longrie/Dieudonne Phanord motion.
George Ferencz moved to receive and record the proposal for a change in requisite for course 250-465 from the Management Department. Mary Margaret Hosler seconded the motion, which carried.
The Mathematics Department's new course proposals for 760-301 Introduction to Analysis, 760-359 Mathematical Modeling & Statistics, 760-473 Lightning Radiative Transfer, and760-499 Data Interpretation of Space Science were approved on a Lance Urven/Mike Longrie motion. Mike Longrie then moved approval for the course revisions to 760-353, 760-441(641), 760-442(642), 760-452(652), 760-453(653), and 760-464(664). Lance Urven seconded the motion, and the motion carried. The new submajors BA/BS Mathematics Space Math Emphasis and BA/BS Mathematics Statistics were approved on a Mike Longrie/Dieudonne Phanord motion. And the change in major from BA/BS Mathematics to BA/BS Mathematics Pure Math Emphasis was approved on a Dieudonne Phanord/George Ferencz motion.
Mike Longrie moved approval of the new course proposal 820-463(663) Peace Studies: Conflict Resolution and Crisis Management from the Political Science Department. Dieudonne Phanord seconded the motion, and the motion carried.
George Ferencz moved to receive and record the proposal for a change in requisite for course 860-371 from the Social Work Department. Lance Urven seconded the motion, which carried.
The new course proposal 133-225 Script Analysis from the Theatre and Dance Department was approved on a Tom Colwin/Terry Ostermeier motion.
The new course proposal, including a General Education Option in Social Sciences, for course 890-380 (580) Gender and the Law from the Women's Studies and Anthropology Department was approved on a Dieudonne Phanord/George Ferencz motion.
Tom Colwin moved to receive and record the special courses that had been approved between
April 1, 1999 and April 15, 1999 as listed below:
