Minutes of the April 20, 2001 Meeting

PRESENT:  Tom Colwin, Cheri Eggert, Anne Hamilton, Jodi Hare, Glenn Hayes (for George Ferencz), David Remmele (for John Howat), Phil Johns, Larry Kenney, Marilyn Lavin, Larry Schuetz, Stephen Solheim, Alvaro Taveira, Richard Telfer, Sally Vogl-Bauer, and John Washbush

ABSENT:   Scott Bradley, Melissa Ellis, Ann Ruff, and Debra Schufletowski

Richard Telfer called the meeting to order at 2:18 p.m.

The April 20, 2001 agenda was approved on a Tom Colwin/Alvaro Taveira motion.

Tom Colwin moved, and Sally Vogl-Bauer seconded, to approve the April 6, 2001 minutes. The motion carried.

Dick Telfer reminded the committee that his office will adjust effective dates on curricular proposals when necessary (e.g., name changes for courses fot the current semester or registration period). He also reminded the committee that instructions for curriculum forms can be found online in the Curriculum Handbook at http://www.uww.edu/acadaff/ucc/handbook.docx
 

Marilyn Lavin moved, and John Washbush seconded, approval of  the college-wide curriculum proposal for a new course,  900-104  New Student Seminar, including General Education credit.  The motion carried.

Glenn Hayes moved to receive and record the curriculum proposals from the Business Education and Computer and Network Administration department for a change in requisites for course 220-357 Webpage Development and Administration, a change in title for course 220-460/660 from Principles of Vocational Education to Principles of Career and Technical Education and  220-461/661 from Organization and Administration of Vocational Programs to Organization and Administration of Cooperative Education Programs. Sally Vogl-Bauer seconded the motion, and the motion carried.

Marilyn Lavin moved, and John Washbush seconded, approval of the curriculum proposal from the Economics department for a change in the Economics Minor. The motion carried.

The curriculum proposal from the Geography and Geology department for a new submajor Geology Track (within the Geography Major) was approved on a Phil Johns/Stephen Solheim motion.

Phil Johns moved approval of the curriculum proposals from the History department for a change in majors History (BA/BS), History (BSE), Social Studies with History Emphasis I, Social Studies with History Emphasis II change in submajors History Minor, History Minor-Elementary Education Emphasis, History Minor-Secondary Education Emphasis, and a new minor History Minor (BA/BS) with Public History Emphasis. Larry Kenney seconded the motion, and the motion carried.

John Washbush moved, and Glenn Hayes seconded, to receive and record the curriculum proposals from the Management department for changes in requisites for courses: 250-306 Operations Management, 250-471 Management Decision Analysis, 250-480 Management Information Systems, 250-484 Simulation Modeling. The motion carried.

Phil Johns moved to receive and record the curriculum proposal from the Management Computer Systems program for a change in requisites for course 950-210 Concepts of Database Systems  and change in description and requisites for course 950-220 Concepts of Programming and course revisions for 950-325 from Client/Server-Local Area to Web  Development I and 950-425 from Client/Server-Internet to Web Development II (see memo).  Glenn Hayes seconded the motion, which carried.

The Music department's new course proposals 150-060  Private Instrumental Instruction in the Primary Performing Area, 150-070  Private Vocal Instruction in the Primary Performing Area, and 150-080  Private Keyboard Instruction in the Primary Performing Area were approved on a Glenn Hayes/Tom Colwin motion.

Phil Johns moved, and David Remmele seconded, the proposals from the Physics department for two new courses, including General Education credit, 800-100 Energy and 800-120 Light and Color as well as a change in descriptions and titles for courses 800-130 from Physical Science Foundations to Physics Foundations and 800-364 from Thermodynamics and Kinetic Theory to Thermal Physics. The motion carried.
 

Glenn Hayes moved to receive and record the special courses approved between March 29, 2001 and April 11, 2001 which are as follows:

The Guidelines for web-based special courses were accepted on a Glenn Hayes/Stephen Solheim motion.
