Minutes of the September 7, 2001 Meeting

PRESENT:  Scott Bradley, James Bronson, Jim Butchart, Jodi Hare (for Dan Edlebeck), George Ferencz, Anne Hamilton,  John Howat, Phil Johns, Larry Kenney, Jo Ann Oravec, Larry Schuetz, Stephen Solheim, Alvaro Taveira, Richard Telfer,

Richard Telfer called the meeting to order at 2:19 p.m.

The September 7, 2001 agenda was approved on a George Ferencz/Alvaro Taveira motion.

Jim Butchart moved, and James Bronson seconded, to approve the May 4, 2001 minutes. The motion carried.

 
The Business Education and Computer and Network Administration Department's curriculum proposals for a new course BSEDCNA 349 Wireless Technology for Business, a change in the Computer End-User Technologies (BBA) major, and a change in the Business Studies - Computer End-User Technologies Emphasis were approved as a package on a George Ferencz/James Bronson motion.

Larry Kenney moved to receive and record the Curriculum and Instruction Department's proposals for a change in title, requisites, and description for CIGENRL 470 and a changes in title and description for SECED 466.  Alvaro Taveira seconded the motion, which carried.  Larry Kenney then moved approval of the change in licensure requirements to Add CIGENRL 470 to all licensure programs.  Anne Hamilton seconded the motion.  After some discussion, John Howat moved, and George Ferencz seconded, to table the proposal until a list of the specific programs affected could be obtained.  The motion to table carried.

The proposals for new submajors Economics - Business Policy Emphasis (BBA), Economics - International Economics Emphasis (BA/BS), Economics - International Economics Emphasis (BBA), Economics - Public Policy Emphasis (BA/BS), and Economics - Public Policy Emphasis (BBA) from the Economics Department were approved on a John Howat/Steve Solheim motion.

Phil Johns moved, and Jim Butchart seconded, the History Department's proposal to add general education credit to HISTRY 125 History of Modern America.  The motion carried.

The proposal for a new submajor Production Operation Management - E-Operations Emphasis (BBA) from the Marketing Department was approved on a Jo Ann Oravec/John Howat motion.

Alvaro Taveira moved to receive and record the special courses approved between April 12, 2001 and August 26, 2001 which are as follows:

George Ferencz seconded the motion, and the motion carried.
 

Dick Telfer then raised an issue related to repeats of courses where there has been a credit change (e.g., a 5-credit course is now offered for 4 credits).  After some discussion, Dick asked that the committee members bring the issue back to the colleges.  He also said that he would draft a policy to be discussed at the next UCC meeting.

It was announced that materials are due to the UCC by September 12, 2001 to make the next catalog.  Also, the UCC meetings will be moved to Hyer 216.

The meeting was adjourned on a George Ferencz/Steve Solheim motion.
