Minutes of the April 11, 2003 Meeting



PRESENT:  Kati Altschwager, Scott Bradley, Tom Colwin, Cheryl Di Cello, Dan Edlebeck, George Ferencz, Linda Holmes, Mary Margaret Hosler, John Howat, Phil Johns, Larry Kenney, Barbara Monfils, Ann Ruff, and Larry Schuetz

Larry Schuetz called the meeting to order at 2:15 p.m.

Tony Gulig moved, and Larry Kenney seconded, approval of the April 11, 2003 agenda.  The motion carried.

The March 21, 2003 minutes were approved on a  John Howat/Larry Kenney motion.

Larry Schuetz announced that the deadline for curriculum to be entered into the 2004-2006 Catalog was the September 19th UCC meeting.  Materials for that meeting are due to the Associate Vice Chancellor's office on September 10, 2003.

Phil Johns moved approval of the Curriculum and Instruction and  Languages and Literatures Departments' proposals for adding cross-listings to CIGNRL/ESL 320 (520) and CIGENRL/ESL 455 (655); for a title change and to add cross-listing for CIGENRL/ESL 350 (550); for new courses CIGENRL/ESL 310 (510), CIGENRL/ESL 330 (530), CIGENRL/ESL 354 (554), and CIGENRL/ESL 405 (605); for a course revision for CIGENRL/ESL 403(603); and  for changes in the ESL Minor in Teaching English as a Second Language/Bilingual-Bicultural Education.  Tony Gulig seconded the motion, and the motion carried.

Larry Kenney moved, and George Ferencz seconded, approval of the Curriculum and Instruction, HPERC, and Special Education Departments' proposal for a new course CIGENRL/PEGNRL/SPECED 475 (675) Licensure Portfolio Review. The motion carried.

The proposal from the Education Foundation Department for a new course EDFOUND 214 Portfolio Development I was approved on a Scott Bradley/Larry Kenney motion.

George Ferencz moved to receive and record the proposals for the Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Coaching Department for changes in requisites for HEALTHED 181 and HEALTHED 362 (562) and for changes in titles for HEALTHED 340 (540) and HEALTHED 391 (591).  Larry Kenney seconded, and the motion carried.  The proposals for new courses HEALTHED 280 and HEALTHED 470 (670); for changes in submajors Health Education Minor and Health Promotion Minor; and for a new submajor Health Education Certificate were approved on a Larry Kenney/Scott Bradley motion.

George Ferencz moved to receive and record the special courses approved between March 13, 2003 and April 2, 2003 as follows:

John Howat seconded the motion, and the motion carried.

Phil Johns was elected to represent the UCC on the newly established Diversity Committee.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:30 p.m. on a Tony Gulig/Tom Colwin motion.
