Minutes of the October 18, 2002 Meeting
PRESENT: Scott Bradley, Tom Colwin, Dan Edlebeck, Anthony Gulig, George Ferencz, Anne Hamilton, Linda Holmes, Mary Margaret Hosler, James Bronson (for John Howat), Larry Kenney, Barbara Monfils, Ann Ruff, Larry Schuetz, Alvaro Taveira, and Wilfred Tremblay

Barbara Monfils called the meeting to order at 2:16 p.m.
Tony Gulig moved, and Alvaro Taveira seconded, approval of the October 18, 2002 agenda. The motion carried.
The October 4, 2002 minutes were approved on a Tom Colwin/Larry Kenney motion.
Barbara Monfils announced that the proposal for a change in the Early Childhood Education (BSE) major which was approved at the September 20, 2002 UCC meeting was submitted in error. Therefore, we have removed that proposal from the official records.
Mary Margaret Hosler moved, and George Ferencz seconded, approval of the proposal from the Finance and Business Law Department for a change in the Finance Major - BBA. The motion carried.
Larry Kenney moved to remove from the table the proposals from the Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Coaching Department for a new course HEALTHED 471/671 Research in Health and Physical Activity and a change in the Health Education Minor and refer them back to the department. Alvaro Taveira seconded the motion, and the motion carried.
Tony Gulig moved approval of the tabled proposal from the History Department for a new History Public History Emphasis (BA/BS) . Mary Margaret Hosler seconded the motion. After some discussion regarding the system's lack of ability to check for appropriate courses, the motion carried.
The proposal to add a cross-listing and General Education credit to AMERIND / HISTRY 102 Introduction to American Indian Studies from the History and Sociology Departments was approved on a Tony Gulig/Mary Margaret Hosler motion.
Anne Hamilton moved, and Wilfred Tremblay seconded, approval of the Political Science Department's proposals for a change in the Political Science (BA/BS) major and the Political Science Minor. The motion carried.
Anne Hamilton moved to approve the proposals from the Women's Studies and Anthropology Department for changes in the International Studies (BA/BS) and the Women's Studies (BA/BS) majors and the Women's Studies Minor. George Ferencz seconded the motion, which carried.

Tom Colwin made some suggestions regarding curriculum forms. He suggested: 1) that some new forms be developed to reduce paperwork for some curriculum actions; 2) to do a broadcast e-mail asking that the new forms be used; and 3) that forms be modified make more obvious, the instructions to bold changes in the TO sections of the form. Tom agreed to work with Lisa Rowland to try and develop the new forms. The other suggestions can be worked in at that time.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:45 p.m. on a Wilfred Tremblay/Larry Kenney motion.
