Minutes of the March 18, 2005 meeting


PRESENT:  Scott Bradley, David Cartwright, Simone DeVore, George Ferencz, Stuart Glosser, Anne Hamilton, Chris Henige, Phil Johns, Larry Kenney, Jeremy Klingbeil, Barbara Monfils, Ann Ruff, Wilfred Tremblay, and Sam Zhao.
 
ABSENT:  James Bronson, Dan Edlebeck, Jeremy Frenz, Larry Schuetz, Ann Tourbier, and Dave Wilder,
 
Barbara Monfils called the meeting to order at 2:15p.m.
 
The March 18, 2005  agenda was approved on a David Cartwright/Chris Henige motion.
 
George Ferencz moved and Larry Kenney seconded the approval of the February 18, 2005minutes.  Motion carried.

Chris Henige moved with a second by Anne Hamilton to receive and record the following curriculum proposals from the College of Education for other curricular action to add prerequisites for directed teaching to catalog; fortitle and number change from: EDUINDP 365 Reflective Seminar: Phase Four to: EDUINDP 465 Reflective Seminar: Phase Four Portfoliofor requisite change for EDUINDP 461  Directed Teaching C:  Early Childhood Special Education, EDUINDP 462  Directed Teaching D:  Kindergarten, EDUINDP 463  Directed Teaching E:  Primary.  The motion carried.
 
 

For the curriculum proposals from the Curriculum & Instruction Department, George Ferencz moved to approve the following new courses, CIFLD 401  Directed Teaching - Alternative Placement Elementary School, CIFLD 402  Directed Teaching - Alternative Placement Middle School,CIFLD 404  Directed Teaching - Alternative Placement Secondary School; change in majorEarly Childhood Program; change in licensure programs Licensure Program - Elementary BSE and Licensure Program - Secondary BSE  and toreceive and record the following requisite changes:  CIFLD 411 Directed Teaching - Elementary, CIFLD 412  Directed Teaching - Middle School, and CIFLD 414  Directed Teaching - Secondaryandtitle & number change from:  EARLYCHD 320 Curriculum & Programs:  Ages 3-8 to:  EDUINDP 320  Integrated Curriculum for Children:  Ages 3-5 . Larry Kenney seconded the motionThe motion carried.

The proposals from the Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Coaching Department for a course revision, description change, title change, credit change from:  COACHING 353 Coaching of Track and Field to:  COACHING 353  Coaching of Track and Field/Cross Country, and requisite changes for PEPROF 171  Fundamentals of Flag Football/Team Handball, PEPROF 172  Fundamentals of Basketball, PEPROF 173  Fundamentals of Tumbling, PEPROF 174  Fundamentals of Volleyball, PEPROF 175  Fundamentals of Bowling/Badminton, PEPROF 176  Fundamentals of Archery/Golf, PEPROF 177  Fundamentals of Track and Field, PEPROF 178  Fundamentals of Soccer/Speedball, PEPROF 200 Fundamentals of Rhythms, PEPROF 210  Fundamentals of Softball, PEPROF 213  Fundamentals of Tennis, PEPROF 215  Fundamentals of Weight Training/Physical Fitness, PEFIELD 411  Directed Teaching Physical Education Elementary, PEFIELD 412 Directed Teaching Physical Education Middle, PEFIELD 414  Directed Teaching Physical Education Secondary were received and recorded on a David Cartwright/Chris Henige motion.

David Cartwright moved to receive and record the curriculum proposal from the Physics Department for requisite changePHYSCS 212 Physics for Elementary Teachers and the curriculum proposal from the Sociology Department for department name change from: Sociology and Anthropology to:  Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice.  Phil Johns seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

Chris Henige moved with a second by David Cartwright to approve the curriculum proposals from the Special Education Department for change in major for Special Education Cross Categorical Program CD Emphasis and Special Education Cross Categorical Program EBD/LD Emphasis and to receive and record requisite changes for  SPECED 484/684  Current Issues in Existing Course, SPECFLD 411A  Directed Teaching - CD Elementary, SPECFLD 411B  Directed Teaching - CD Secondary, SPECFLD 411C  Directed Teaching - EBD Elementary, SPECFLD 411D  Directed Teaching - EBD Secondary, SPECFLD 411E  Directed Teaching - LD Elementary, SPECFLD 411F  Directed Teaching - LD Secondary, SPECFLD 411G  Directed Teaching - EC:EEN, SPECFLD 489A  Directed Teaching - CD, SPECFLD 489B  Directed Teaching - LD, SPECFLD 489C  Directed Teaching - EBD, SPECFLD 489D  Directed Teaching Special Ed - Cross Categorical.  The motion carried.

For the curriculum proposal from the University Honors Program, David Cartwright moved to approve the change in submajor for the University Honors Program.  Stuart Glosser seconded the motion.  Chris Henige requested that the proposal be amended to add World of Arts as a Fall course offering.  The motion, as amended, carried.

The special courses approved between 2/12/05 through 3/9/05 were received and recorded on a David Cartwright/Stuart Glosser motion.
