Barbara Monfils informed the committee that general education must address the gender issues to abide by the following action taken at the April 8, 2005 Faculty Senate meeting. Resolved that the Faculty Senate request that General Education course reviews require that course reports include explanation of how curriculum content incorporates scholarship in the appropriate field relating to women and gender. Larry Schuetz asked for clarification whether this action referred to the core courses rather than the general education electives. Barbara will check with Ed Erdmann for clarification. Tom Colwin asked if this action is requiring general education to build the gender issue into existing courses or future general education courses.
Barbara distributed the revised Audit & Review self-study form for the undergraduate programs as an informational piece. On this new form there have been 5 changes: 1) reduction in the number of categories 2) further differentiation of program goals from assessment of student learning outcomes, 3) added retention under issues of enrollment, 4) further specification of faculty vitae from the last 5 years, and 5) under recommended results if a program receives continuation without qualification, the program will be allowed to provide an expedited Audit & Review for the next self-study.
Barbara gave an update on the online bachelor degrees. The proposal for online bachelor degree programs is being incorporated into the HLC accreditation report. The proposal for the following online bachelor degree programs (per an agreement with the UWS campuses) - BBA, Liberal Studies (BA/BS), and Political Science (BA/BS) - was submitted to System in October for initial comments/reaction.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:45 p.m on a Wilfred Tremblay/Tom Colwin motion.
Respectfully submitted,
Leslie Meyer
