Minutes of the January 26, 2007 meeting

Liz Hachten, presiding as chair in Barbara Monfils' absence, called the meeting to order at 2:15 p.m.
The January 26, 2007 agenda was approved on a Rita Czaja/Lauren Smith motion.
George Ferencz moved and Simone DeVore seconded the approval of the October 20, 2006 minutes. Motion carried.
Simone DeVore moved with a second by George Ferencz to approve the curriculum proposal from the College of Business & Economics for a new course - BEINDP 201 Entrepreneurship for Non-Business Majors. The motion carried. The change in submajor for General Business Entrepreneurship Emphasis (BBA) was approved on a Rita Czaja/Lauren Smith motion
For the following curriculum proposals from the College of Education, the requisite change for EDUNIDP 443 Field Study: Ages 3 through 8 was received and recorded on a Rita Czaja/Scott Bradley motion, the change in major for Early Childhood Education was approved on a Simone DeVore/Amy Schumacher motion, and the articulation agreements - Early Childhood Education - Early Childhood through Middle Childhood and Early Childhood Education - Early Childhood Regular/Special Education were received and recorded on a Simone DeVore/Amy Schumacher motion.
For the curriculum proposal from the Accounting Department, Simone DeVore moved with a second by Rita Czaja to receive and record the requisite change for ACCOUNT 454 Accounting Information System. The motion carried.
Ellen Davis with a second by Barbara Penington moved to receive and record the following curriculum proposals from the Biology Department: requisite change for BIOLOGY 430 Animal Behavior and description change and requisite change for BIOLOGY 457 General Ecology. The motion carried. The contact hour change and/or credit change for BIOLOGY 412 Immunology was approved on an Ellen Davis/Barbara Penington motion.
George Ferencz moved with a second by Barbara Penington to approve the curriculum proposal for the new course - SPEECH 346 Sound and Image: An Exploration of Sound for/with Visual Media from the Communication Department The motion carried.
Linda Yu moved to receive and record the curriculum proposal for the title change - from: FNBSLW 370 Small Business Finance to: FNBSLW 370 Entrepreneurial Financial Management from the Finance and Business Law Department. Rita Czaja seconded the motion. The motion carried. The curriculum proposals for change in major for Finance, Finance: Insurance Emphasis, Finance: Finance Planning Emphasis, Finance: Real Estate Emphasis (BBA) from the Finance & Business Law Department were approved on a Linda Yu/Rita Czaja motion.
For the curriculum proposals from the Geography and Geology Department for new courses - GEOGRPY 120 Introduction to Weather and Climate and GEOGRPY 361 Geography of South and Southeast Asia, Lauren Smith moved to approve with a second by Ellen Davis. The motion carried. Ellen Davis moved to receive and record the curriculum proposal for the description change and title change from: GEOGRPY 364 Geography of Asia to: GEOGRPY 364 Geography of East Asia from the Geography and Geology Department. Linda Yu seconded the motion. The motion carried.
For the following curriculum proposals from the Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Coaching Department, the contact hour change and/or credit change for HEALTHED 341/541 Yoga and Stress Reduction was approved on a Rita Czaja/Amy Schumacher motion; the description change and title change from: HEALTHED 360 High Level Wellness to: HEALTHED 360 Current Topics in Health and Wellness, the description change, title change, requisite change from: PEPROF 340 Team and Individual Sports to: PEPROF 340 Teaching Physical Education in Secondary Schools, the requisite changes for HEALTHED 471/671 Research in Health and Physical Activity, PEPROF 325 Physical Education for the K-3rd Classroom Teacher, PEPROF 326 Physical Education for the 4-8th Classroom Teacher, PEPROF 327 Motor Programming for Early Childhood were received and recorded on a Lauren Smith/Scott Bradley motion; and the course revision, description change, title change, and writing requirement from: PEPROF 165 Introduction to Physical Education and Mechanical Principles to: PEPROF 165 Introduction to Physical Education was approved on a Rita Czaja/Jolly Emrey motion; the new course RECREATN 388 Special Events Management was approved on a Scott Bradley/Lauren Smith motion; and the change in submajor - Health, Human Performance, and Recreation (BSE) was approved on a Tom Colwin/Ellen Davis motion.
For the following curriculum proposals from the History Department, the title change from: HISTRY 326 History of Contemporary Women, from 1800 to: HISTRY 326 Global Women?s History, Since 1800 was received and recorded on an Ellen Davis/Rita Czaja motion; the new courses - HISTRY 363 From Goddesses to Witches: Women in Pre-Modern European History, HISTRY 337 Modernization in the Middle East, HISTRY 338 The Arab-Israeli Conflict, 1900-present were approved on a Lauren Smith/Ellen Davis motion; the change in major for History (BA/BS), Public History Emphasis, History (BSE), Social Studies Broadfield (BSE) - History with Social Studies and change in minor for History minor, History minor with Public History Emphasis, History Elementary Education minor, History Secondary Education minor were approved on a Tom Colwin/Jolly Emrey motion.
Lila Waldman moved with a second by Linda Yu to approve the curriculum proposals for the description change, title change, contact hour change and/or credit change, requisite change, repeatability change for ITBE 493 Computer End-User Internship and the new course - ITBE 280 Introduction to Information Systems from the Information Technology and Business Education Department. The motion carried.
The curriculum proposal for a change in major - Integrated Science-Business major from the Integrated Science-Business Program was approved on an Ellen Davis/Amy Schumacher motion.
Barbara Penington moved to approve the curriculum proposal for the new course - LSINDP 100 Foreign Film Appreciation from the College of Letters and Sciences. Rita Czaja seconded the motion. The motion carried.
For the following curriculum proposals from the Management Department, the change in major for Operations Management: Emphasis in E-Operations was approved on a Rita Czaja/Lila Waldman motion and the title change from: MANGEMNT 387 Entrepreneurship to: MANGEMNT 387 Entrepreneurship: New Ventures and the description and title change from: MANGEMNT 460 Computer Integrated Operations and Project Management to: MANGEMNT 460 Project Management and Enterprise Resource Planning were received and recorded on an Amy Schumacher/Linda Yu motion.
For the following curriculum proposals from the Management Computer Systems Department, the course revision, description change, title change, requisite change for MCS 232 Concepts of COBOL with File Structures was approved on a Lila Waldman/Linda Yu motion; the requisite changes for MCS 220 Concepts of Programming, MCS 231 Concepts of Data Structures, MCS 325 Web Development I, MCS 331 Systems Analysis and Design I, MCS 391 MCS Cooperative Program, MCS 425 Web Development 2, MCS 431 Systems Analysis and Design 2, MCS 475 Network Engineering, MCS 485 Project, MCS 496 Special Studies, MCS 498 Independent Studies were received and recorded on an Ellen Davis/Linda Yu motion; and the change in major for Management Computer Systems - BS and Management Computer Systems - BBA were approved on a Lila Waldman/Rita Czaja motion.
For the curriculum proposal from the Marketing Department, Rita Czaja moved to receive and record the title change from: MARKETNG 400 Product Policy and Strategy to: MARKETNG 400 Innovation and Technology Marketing with a second by Linda Yu. The motion carried. Lila Waldman moved to approve the curriculum proposal for the new course MARKETNG 460 Entrepreneurial Marketing from the Marketing Department. Rita Czaja seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Ellen Davis moved to receive and record the curriculum proposals from the Mathematical and Computer Sciences Department for a requisite change for COMPSCI 271 Assembly Programming and a course deletion for COMPSCI 372 Intermediate Programming and COMPSCI 475 Network Engineering and to approve the change in minor - Web Site Development and Administration. Rita Czaja seconded the motion. The motion carried.
George Ferencz moved to approve with a second by Barbara Penington the curriculum proposals from the Music Department for credit change for MUSC 438 Medieval Music, MUSC 445 Renaissance Music, MUSC 447 Music of the Classical Period, MUSC 448 Music of the Romantic Period, and MUSC 463 Music after 1900. The motion carried.

Rita Czaja moved to approve the curriculum proposal from the Political Science Department for new course - POLISCI 240 Law and Society. Tom Colwin seconded the motion. The motion carried. For the other two curriculum proposals from the Political Science Department, Lauren Smith moved to approve with a second by Rita Czaja the change in major for Political Science (BSE) and change in minor for Political Science Education Emphasis. The motion carried.
Rita Czaja moved to receive and record the curriculum proposal from the Psychology Department for requisite change for PSYCH 499 Honors Thesis. Ellen Davis seconded the motion. The motion carried.
For the following curriculum proposals from the Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice Department, the course deletion for ANTHROPL 324 Peoples and Cultures of the Pacific was received and recorded on an Ellen Davis/Amy Schumacher motion and the new course -ANTHROPL 225 Human Evolution: Introduction to Biological Anthropology, ANTHROPL 316 Pharmaceuticals, Culture, and Society, ANTHROPL 320 Heritage and Cultural Resource Management, SOCIOLGY 255 Sociology of Science Fiction and change in major for Sociology (BSE), Social Studies - Broadfield Sociology I Emphasis, Social Studies - Broadfield Sociology II Emphasis, and Sociology - Comparative Studies Emphasis were approved on an Amy Schumacher/Rita Czaja motion.
