Minutes of the March 9, 2007 meeting

 

PRESENT: Bruce Bukowski representing Scott Bradley, Tom Colwin, Ellen Davis, Simone DeVore, Carol Elsen, Jolly Emrey, George Ferencz, Barbara Monfils, Mary Pilgram representing Barbara Penington, Amy Schumacher, Lila Waldman, and Linda Yu

ABSENT: Rita Czaja, Dan Edlebeck, Liz Hachten, Katy Heyning, Laura Plamann, Lauren Smith, and Becky Wintermute

Barbara Monfils called the meeting to order at 2:20 p.m.

The March 9, 2007 agenda was approved on a Lila Waldman/Tom Colwin motion.

Simone DeVore moved and Amy Schumacher seconded the approval of the January 26, 2007 minutes. Motion carried.

For the curriculum proposals from the College of Business & Economics Simone DeVore moved with a second by George Ferencz to receive and record the change in admissions requirements and to approve the change in degree (BBA). The motion carried. 

Lila Waldman moved to receive and record the curriculum proposal from the Geography and Geology Department for repeatability change - GEOLOGY 492 Field Studies in Geology. Simone DeVore seconded the motion. The motion carried.

The curriculum proposal from the Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Coaching Department for a change in minor, Recreation Leisure Studies: Education & Recreation Leisure Studies: L & S was approved on a Lila Waldman/Amy Schumacher motion.

For the curriculum proposal from the Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice Department, Lila Waldman moved with a second by Linda Yu to receive and record adding a cross-listing for SOCIOLGY 350 Contemporary Japanese Society. The motion carried.

The special courses approved between 01/17/07 through 03/01/07 were received and recorded on a Jolly Emrey/Simone DeVore motion.

After a brief discussion, George Ferencz moved to support the resolution of the International Education committee to require a minimum 2.0 GPA for travel study courses. Tom Colwin seconded the motion. The motion carried.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:35 p.m. on Tom Colwin/Lila Waldman motion.
