Minutes of the April 13, 2007 meeting
PRESENT:Scott Bradley, Catherine Chan representing Ellen Davis, Tom Colwin, Rita Czaja, Simone DeVore, Dan Edlebeck, Carol Elsen, Bob Gruber representing Rita Czaja, Liz Hachten representing Jolly Emrey, Barbara Monfils, Barbara Penington, Amy Schumacher, Lila Waldman, and Linda Yu

Barbara Monfils called the meeting to order at 2:15 p.m.
The April 13, 2007 agenda was approved on a Tom Colwin/Bob Gruber motion.
Simone DeVore moved and Linda Yu seconded the approval of the March 9, 2007 minutes. Motion carried.
For the curriculum proposals from the College of Business & Economics, Lila Waldman moved with a second by Linda Yu to approve the change in major - General Business - No emphasis (BBA) and the new course - BEINDP 293 Applied Business Basics. The motion carried.
Linda Yu moved to approve the curriculum proposal from the Colleges of Business & Economics and Letters & Sciences for change in major - Integrated Science - Business (BBA). Lila Waldman seconded the motion. The motion carried.
The curriculum proposals from the Accounting Department for a new course - ACCOUNT 455 VITA - Income Tax E-Filing Clinic and change in minor - Professional Business Accounting Minor were approved on a Bob Gruber/Linda Yu motion.
For the curriculum proposals from the Chemistry Department, Catherine Chan moved with a second by Amy Schumacher to receive and record adding a cross-listing for CHEM 456 Biochemistry and to approve the new course - CHEM 488 Senior Honors Thesis and the new submajor - Honors Emphasis in Chemistry with a change in language under "course requirements" stating, "Additional requirements for the honors track (compared to that of a regular chemistry degree) ... The motion carried.
The curriculum proposals from the Geography/Geology Department for the following new courses: GEOGRPHY 245 Gender and Geography, GEOLGY 203 Volcanoes, and GEOLGY 310 Rocks and Minerals were approved on a Barbara Penington/Simone DeVore motion.
Lila Waldman moved to receive and record the curriculum proposal from the Information Technology & Business Education Department for a requisite change - ITBE 280 Introduction to Information Systems. Linda Yu seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Tom Colwin moved to approve with a second by Linda Yu the curriculum proposals from the Management Department for change in major - Operations Management (BBA) and change in submajor - OM: Supply Chain Management Emphasis and OM: Emphasis in Project Management. The motion carried.
The curriculum proposal from the Music Department for a new course - MUSC 451 Choral and Keyboard Arranging was approved on a Tom Colwin/Barbara Penington motion.
For the curriculum proposals from the Political Science Department, Scott Bradley moved with a second by Amy Schumacher to approve the new course - POLISCI 416 The Constitution and Civil Rights and the change in major - Public Policy and Administration. The motion carried.
Tom Colwin moved to receive and record the curriculum proposals from the Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice Department to add a cross-listing for CRIMJUS 325 Forensic Documentation and CRIMJUS 425 Advanced Forensic Anthropology. Barbara Penington seconded the motion. The motion carried.
The curriculum proposals from the Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice Department for new courses - ANTHROPL 310 Women and the Shaping of Latin American Culture and ANTHROPL 390 Anthropological Theory: History, Critique and Current Practices were approved on a Barbara Penington/Simone DeVore motion.
The curriculum proposal from the Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice Department for a new minor - Anthropology was approved, pending receipt of the consultation page, on a Liz Hachten/Catherine Chan motion.
Linda Yu moved to approve with a second by Barbara Penington the curriculum proposal from the Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice Department for a change in submajor - Asian Studies minor. The motion carried. Dan Edlebeck mentioned that any changes made henceforth with this proposal to clarify the two tracks will still have an effective term of Spring 2008. The Registrar's Office will have a consultation with Larry Neuman regarding the automation for the AR.
For the curriculum proposal from the Women's Studies Department for a new course - WOMENST 455 Issues and Topics in Women's and Gender Studies, Bob Gruber moved to approve with a second by Simone DeVore. The motion carried.
The special courses approved between 3/1/07 through 4/5/07 were received and recorded on a Linda Yu/Amy Schumacher motion.
