Minutes of the November 2, 2007 meeting

 

PRESENT: Marshall Anderson, Ray Baus, Scott Bradley, Rita Czaja, Ellen Davis, Simone DeVore, Jolly Emrey, Stuart Glosser, Stephanie Miller, Jim Molloy, Barbara Monfils, 

ABSENT:  Dan Edlebeck, Carol Elsen, Liz Hachten, Katy Heyning, Lisa Koenecke, Becky Wintermute, and Jeff Zimmerman

Barbara Monfils called the meeting to order at 2:15 p.m.

The November 2, 2007 agenda was approved on a Simone DeVore/Ellen Davis motion.

Jim Molloy moved and Rita Czaja seconded the approval of the September 21, 2007 minutes.  Motion carried.

For the curriculum proposals from the Biological Sciences Department, Marshall Anderson moved with a second by Jolly Emrey to receive and reocrd the title change from:  BIOLOGY 341 Animal Development to:  BIOLOGY 341 Developmental Biology and to approve a new course , BIOLOGY 451/651 Natural History of Yellowstone NP and the Upper Great Plains.  The motion carried.

Simone DeVore moved to approve the curriculum proposals from the Curriculum & Instruction Department for a new course, CIGENRL 452 Pedagogy and Practice for Teaching General Music K-12 and for a contact hour and/or credit change for ELEMMED 437 Elementary/Middle School Instrumental Methods.  Rita Czaja seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

For the curriculum proposal from the Economics Department, Rita Czaja moved with a second by Marshall Anderson to receive and record requisite change for ECON 245 Business Statistics I. The motion carried.

The curriculum proposal from the History Department for repeatability change for HISTRY 110 History Through Film was approved on an Ellen Davis/Rita Czaja motion.

The curriculum proposals from the Mathematical and Computer Sciences Department for a change in major for Math/Computer (BA/BS), Math/Statistics (BA/BS), Math/Pure (BA/BS), Math/Applied (BA/BS), Math/Secondary Education (BSE) were approved on a Marshall Anderson/Jolly Emrey motion.

For the curriculum proposals from the Social Work Department, Ellen Davis moved with a second by Rita Czaja to approve the new course, SOCWORK 350 Psychopharmacology Basics for the Helping Profession and the change in minorHuman Services Foundation minor (BA/BS).  The motion carried.

Rita Czaja moved to approve the following curriculum proposals from the Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice Department for new courseCRIMJUS 322 Criminal Investigations of Child Abuse and the course revision for SOCIOLGY 140 Introductory Sociology and to receive and record the description change and number change from: SOCIOLGY 140  Introductory Sociology to: SOCIOLGY 240 Introductory Sociology and the requisite change for SOCIOLGY 426 Minorities and the Criminal Justice System, SOCIOLGY 465/665 Extraordinary Groups: The Sociology of Intentional Communities, SOCIOLGY 473 Social Theory: Classical and Contemporary Perspectives, SOCIOLGY 476 Methods of Social Research, SOCIOLGY 478 Sociology in Practice, CRIMJUS 325 Forensic Documentation and course deletion for SOCIOLGY 336 Women in Asia:  Environment, Work, and Development and SOCIOLGY 455/655 Sociology of the Family.  Marshall Anderson seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

Jolly Emrey moved to approve the curriculum proposal from the Women’s Studies Department for change in majorWomen’s Studies major.  Ellen Davis seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

The special courses approved between 9/12/07 through 10/24/07 were received and recorded on a Rita Czaja/Ellen Davis motion.

Bruce Bukowski initiated a discussion as to the process of designating sections of ENGLISH 102 for a particular department and the ramifications of doing so.
