UW-Whitewater offers opportunities to obtain pre-professional work in a number of fields, including:

Generally, it is a good idea to earn the bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree before applying for admission to a professional school. In pre-law, for example, you might complete a bachelor of arts in political science or English, and in premedicine you might complete a bachelor of science in biology or chemistry.

While at UW-Whitewater, you will obtain a well-rounded liberal education recommended by professional schools along with the required courses for your professional area. Some professional programs offer admission to highly qualified students who have completed their junior year. With the approval of your advisor and the dean of the College of Letters and Sciences, you may have part of your work in professional school applied to a bachelor's degree at UW-Whitewater.

The College of Letters and Sciences is accredited by the North Central Association for Colleges and Secondary Schools.

Entry into professional school usually requires a bachelor's degree. Although there are exceptions (e.g. chiropractic), you should plan to earn your bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree first. Because of specific and often extensive requirements for admission to most professional schools, it is important for you to determine your career plans prior to embarking on a preprofessional course of study.

Because of specific and often extensive requirements for admission to most professional schools, it is important for you to determine your career plans prior to embarking on a pre-professional course of study.
