King Chavez Scholars

King Chavez Scholars Seminar is designed to attract and
retain exceptional incoming multicultural and first-generation undergraduate
scholars for participation in the following: McNair Scholars Program;
University Honors Program; Undergraduate Research Program; Fall and Spring
Semester Seminar; conference travel. Students receive a scholarship during
their freshman year.
McNair Scholars

McNair Scholars program prepares first-generation and multicultural
students for doctoral study and eventual careers as college professors.
The program matches each student with a faculty mentor in their major;
provides resources for undergraduate research projects; enhances students;
quantitative, computer, test taking, research methods, and critical thinking
skills; provides students with opportunities to present research findings
at regional and national conferences; provides stipends for on-campus
and external summer research internships. The program assists students
in acquiring fellowships, graduate assistantships, and other resources
for graduate study. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education.

Advanced Opportunity Program Grants (AOP)
Advanced Opportunity Program Grants (AOP) are for African
American, Latino, Native
American, designated Southeast Asian, and disadvantaged students. Wisconsin
residents and nonresidents are eligible. Preference is given to Wisconsin
residents. Full-time and part-time graduate students are eligible.
Lawton Undergraduate Multicultural Retention Grant
Lawton Undergraduate Multicultural Retention Grant is a program of financial
assistance for statutorily designated multicultural students to improve
their retention and graduation and lessen the burden of student debt.
Eligible students include African American, Latino, Native American, and
Southeast Asian undergraduates who have completed a minimum of 24 credits
with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 for a “need” student
and at least a 2.4 for a non need-based student.
