Dr. Nelia
Olivencia, Director Dr. Nelia Olivencia is the Director of Latino
Student Programs at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (UW-W).
She holds a B.A. from the City University of New York-Brooklyn
College and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Washington University (St. Louis).
She serves as UW-W Student Exchange Coordinator with the
Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM-Monterrey),
a conglomerate of 26 campuses throughout Mexico, and has taught various
travel study courses to places such as Cuba, Egypt, Peru, Spain, and
Morocco. She is the
recipient of six campus wide and/or system wide awards since her 1991
tenure at UW-W. From 1999-2001 she served on the Executive Body of the
National Association for Chicana/Chicano Studies and is now serving on
the Executive Board of the National Puerto Rican Studies Association.
