During the Spring 2016 semester, construction began on a $4.5 million addition to Laurentide Hall.
This 18,390 square-foot, three-story, addition will be called the Mary Poppe Chrisman Success Center and serve as the primary headquaters for Campus Tutorial Services. The addition will include computer labs, collaboration rooms and large, open areas for tutors to work with clients.
Campus Tutorial Services is a peer-tutoring opearation with more than 250 employees who can assist students in almost every subject offered on campus. By the end of the 2013-2014 academic year, the tutors will complete more than 150,000 hours of tutoring while serving over 44 percent of students on campus.
Currently Campus Tutorial Services is housed in the basement of McCutchan Hall; this area lacks accesssibility, air conditioning and adequate technology to meet the needs of the tutors and their clients. Once the Center is complete, the operation will move into the new space, but satellite locations will remain in McCutchan Hall, Andersen Library and the residence halls.
