The Internal Audit Department is an independent function set up to provide assurance to UW-Whitewater's management that:

1. assets are safeguarded;
2. internal polices and prodedures, UW System Administration (UWSA) policies, and government laws and regulations are adhered to; and
3. resources are employed effectively and efficiently.
