Lost and Found Procedures Summary

The lost and found for the university is located Esker Dinning Hall. All items, except library books which should be turned in to Anderson Library, found in any location on campus should be sent immediately to the Information Services, 100 Esker Hall. The Information Services phone number is 472-1170.

Lost items are logged in, and retained in the lost and found filing cabinet with the exception of UW-W ID?s, money, credit cards, bicycles, or items worth over $100.00. UW-W ID?s are taken directly to the ID/Meal Plan Office, room 250 and bicycles are picked up by General Services; Surplus Property (1321 ext 3036). All items are retained for 30 days, at the end of the 30 days items are disposed of in accordance with Lost and Found Procedures. Ten percent of lost cash will be deposited in user code 294, to recover expenses, and the remaining portion will be given to a non-profit organization. Items worth over $100.00 will be liquidated into cash and handled in the same way as lost cash. Unclaimed forms of identification will be cut up. Prescription eyeglasses/sunglasses will be turned over to the local Lions Club. University keys will be turned over to the University Locksmith. Textbooks will be turned over to the Textbook Rental or Anderson Library, as appropriate. Unmatched items, damaged items, or other non-resale items will be disposed of. All other items will be taken monthly to Goodwill.
