Freshman Application Deadlines

May 1st for Fall
December 1st for Spring

Students interested in fall enrollment must have applied by May 1 and be admitted by Aug. 1. However, to be eligible for academic scholarships students should be admitted by Feb. 1. Those students seeking spring enrollment must apply by Dec. 1 and be admitted by Jan. 15. All new students are required to attend "Plan-It Purple", the university's orientation, advising and registration program. UW-Whitewater operates on a rolling admission basis, but the university reserves the right to stop accepting applications when it believes its enrollment capacities for the campus can be satisfied by the number of students already admitted.

Application Checklist

  1. Complete the online application at apply.wisconsin.edu
  2. Submit $44 USD application fee
  3. Submit final high school transcript / GED / HSED /
  4. If military experience, submit copy of DD214 or military transcript (to be awarded credit for military experience)
  5. If any college/university courses have been taken, official transcripts must be sent prior to enrollment
  6. If any Advanced Placement (AP) courses were completed, scores must be sent prior to the start of the first semester of attendance

Applicant Self-Service in WINS

Shortly after submitting an application, an e-mail will be forwarded with instructions that allow each applicant to follow the progress of his/her application online. Please be patient as it can take a couple of days for the receipt of documentation to be recorded. We make every attempt to record the information as quickly as possible. The online WINS access is a great tool to keep track of what's missing, what's new and what's to come at UW-Whitewater.

Freshman Minimum Academic Preparation

Academic preparation is an important part of an admission decision. Evaluating academic preparation includes an appreciation for an applicant's intention to pursue a rigorous, college preparatory curriculum as well as an assessment of the in-classroom performance measurements. The following list identifies the minimum course requirements necessary for admission consideration. The most competitive candidates for admission to UW-Whitewater typically surpass these unit requirement totals.

  • English 4 units
  • Math (Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 or equivalent) 3 units
  • Natural Science 3 units
  • Social Science 3 units
  • Academic Electives* 4 units
    *Typical electives include a combination of extra courses in the above subjects, arts, music, computer science, foreign language or business credits
