Studers give $1 million to college-bound Janesville students
In a generous gift, alumni Quint and Rishy Studer have donated $1 million for scholarships for Janesville high school students who attend UW-Whitewater. The newly established Janesville Promise Fund will award $50,000 annually.

New class of Warhawks earn degrees
Nearly 700 students received degrees from UW-Whitewater at the winter commencement ceremony. This year's commencement speaker was Agate Nesaule, an award-winning writer who retired in 1996 as a respected professor of English and women's studies. She returned to campus in October 2010 as the winner of the Chancellor's Regional Literary Award for her powerful writing about survival and courage in the aftermath of war. Kiara Juniel, a senior from Brown Deer graduating with a major in public relations and a minor in marketing, served as student speaker.

Culture, not biology, is the most important factor when it comes to boys' and girls' mathematical skills. This is among several new findings from a major international study authored by Jonathan Kane, professor of mathematical and computer sciences at UW-Whitewater.
