Planned Giving

“Planned giving” describes the use of a number of giving vehicles that allow you to give to UW-Whitewater during your lifetime and beyond while meeting your current income needs and providing for heirs.  Another term which is often used for planned giving is “deferred giving.”

There are two types of planned gifts and a number of vehicles that can be used to make a planned gift.

The first of these are Income Producing Planned Gifts.  The key feature of these gifts is that they provide a stream of income to you and/or your designated beneficiary.

These gifts are made when you irrevocably transfer cash or marketable securities to the Foundation in exchange for a fixed dollar annuity payment.  Examples of these types of planned gifts are:

Charitable Gift Annuities

Deferred Charitable Gift Annuities

Charitable Remainder Trusts

The second of these is Other Planned Gifts.  These include donations of Life Insurance Policies, IRAs, Charitable Lead Trusts, and Qualified Retirement Plans.

In regard to bequests, you may choose to leave a specific amount, a particular piece of real estate or personal property, a percentage of the estate, all or a portion of an estate following the satisfaction of other bequests, or a combination of these methods.  Click on the following links to view an example of a General Estate Agreement or a Letter of Intent for a Future Estate Gift.

You can notify the Foundation that UW-Whitewater is included in your will by contacting the Foundation Manager, Laurie Miller at 262.472.6202, Email, or mailing the Foundation office at the address provided below.
