Students continue excellence on CPA exam
Accounting students at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater continue to excel on the Uniform CPA Exam. In 2006, UW-Whitewater ranked in the top 25 for candidates passing all four parts on the first attempt, according to the latest candidates performance listing by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy. The only other Wisconsin school to rank in the top 25 was the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Sophomore Cassandra Schillo wins regional theatre award
University of Wisconsin-Whitewater sophomore Cassandra Schillo was recognized regionally for her hard work behind-the-scenes in the area of sound design. She is the winner of the Kennedy Center Region III American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) Award for Excellence in Sound Design for the UW-Whitewater production of "Terra Nova." The competition provides students with feedback from professionals working in the field and to give outstanding students designers national recognition. Region III includes the states of Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.

James R. Connor Student Leader grant winners announced
Two University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seniors, Michael Baumhardt and Kelly Kleinhans, have been recognized for their outstanding work on campus and were presented with the award by former Chancellor James R. Connor and the UW-Whitewater Student Foundation.

Bloomberg certification gives business students advantage
Along with other prestigious universities like Harvard University, Cornell University, York University, Washington University and the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater now offers a program that sets business students apart from the rest. This program is called Bloomberg Certification.

Student Delta Pi Epsilon chapter sweeps awards at conference
Coming off the heels of an impressive showing at the Wisconsin Business Education Awards last fall 2007 at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Delta Pi Epsilon (DPE), a University of Wisconsin-Whitewater honorary graduate society promoting excellence in research and teaching for business, swept the chapter awards at the DPE National Conference in New Orleans.

Lights, camera, Sundance: Senior works at film festival
One University of Wisconsin-Whitewater student has lived the famous life the past three years by working the red carpet at the annual Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. Working for both Park City Television and the Sundance Channel, Darren Hafford of Beloit has filmed and interviewed everyone from Jennifer Aniston and Justin Timberlake to Samuel L. Jackson and Sharon Stone.

Student HR team wins state, qualifies for regionals
The HR Games were held at UW-Whitewater Feb. 22-23. In a win over UW-Madison, Katie VanBeek, Matt Perry and Tricia Wollerman, all seniors in the UW-Whitewater human resource program, won the state division and will go on to compete in April at the regional competition held in Omaha, Neb.

Marketing students help HealthNet of Janesville
Sometimes the best reward one can receive is the knowledge that they made a difference in someone's life. The members of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater chapters of the American Marketing Association (AMA) and Creative Marketing Unlimited (CMU) understand this concept and hope to reflect this knowledge on as many lives as they can in the Rock County area. The groups have been working with HealthNet of Janesville, a free or low cost primary dental and healthcare organization for underprivileged citizens of Rock County.

Janalyn Bump a finalist for WPR's young artist competition
Musical awards and accolades are nothing new to Janalyn Bump. The senior has been lining her mantle with them for years now. Her latest honor may just get her the exposure she's been dreaming of all her life. She was a finalist in Wisconsin Public Radio’s Neale-Silva Young Artist Competition.

Special education program earns national accreditation
The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) has awarded UW-Whitewater's special education program with its prestigious accreditation. That makes UW-Whitewater's program the only special education program in the state to be nationally recognized by the NCATE and the Council for Exceptional Children.
