Academic Advising

All College of Arts and Communication majors are required to meet with their academic advisor or attend a group advising session prior to registration each semester.

How to determine my advisor's name and office location?

Use WINS or contact the office of your major.

Art, Media Arts and Game Development, Music and Theatre/Dance majors are assigned a faculty advisor their first semester on campus. All other new students are advised by the Academic Advising and Exploration Center.

Communication Department (Communication & Journalism majors) who have earned less than 24 credits toward graduation are advised by the Academic Advising and Exploration Center located in Roseman Hall. Once you have earned more than 24 credits then you will be assigned an advisor in the College.

How to declare or change your major

Major, minor or degree changes are made in the office of the major you are declaring. Minor declarations and changes are made at the office of your major. Art majors are declared in CA 2073, Communication majors in HE 464, Music majors in CA 2038 and Theatre/Dance majors in CA 2076. Media Arts and Game Development majors are declared in either the Communication office (HE 464) for those selecting the Communication/Gaming emphasis, or the Art office (CA 2073) for those selecting the Visual Media Design emphasis, or the Math and Computer Sciences office (MC 304) for those selecting the Technology emphasis.

Have questions: Feel free to contact College Advising Coordinator Robert Mertens in the Associate Dean's office (472-1934) or the following people who serve either as Master Advisors or Department Chairs.
