INSTRUCTIONAL ACADEMIC STAFF
LECTURER IN ARTS MANAGEMENT
The Theatre/Dance Department at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater announces a full-time, Instructional Academic Staff Position in Arts Management beginning in the fall of 2013. The preferred candidate will teach and develop courses in arts management and entrepreneurship, including on-line courses, courses that will serve the needs of non-traditional populations, and the college’s general education World of the Arts course, as well as coordinating the annual Creative Enterprise Symposium. The candidate will also work with local and regional arts organizations, as well as other colleges at the university, to cultivate stronger connections between these units and organizations and the College of Arts and Communication. Salary is dependent upon qualifications.
Position Available: Fall 2013
Qualifications: MA in Arts Management preferred; MA with Professional Experience in a related area considered:
- Strong evidence of successful university teaching
- Strong evidence of successful work with diverse
and non-traditional student populations - Ability to work evenings and weekends, and to develop
Innovative, non-traditional curricular offerings
(e.g. workshops, module courses, etc.)
Rank: Full Time instructional academic staff for academic year.

Department: The UWW Theatre/Dance Department has a staff of 10 faculty/academic staff members, serving around 80 theatre majors (BA, BFA, BSE) and 100+ minors, with 7 students in the Theatre BFA-Management/Promotions program and 24 students in the Arts Management Minor. Six productions are mounted each year, including one touring children’s play and one dance concert. The Theatre/Dance Department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST). Instructional Academic Staff Lecturer in Dance
The Theatre/Dance Department at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater announces a 50%-time, Instructional Academic Staff Position in Dance beginning the Fall of 2013. (Additional load possible by teaching a General Education Arts Survey course for the College.) The preferred candidate will have the opportunity to teach courses in tap, jazz and an additional area of specialization that should include an Ethnic/World Cultural dance component. The candidate will also work with the Office of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Multicultural Affairs and Student Success to advise and mentor students involved in the university’s multicultural student dance organizations. This would include the creation of a weekly dance forum that fosters interaction between student dance organizations and regional artists in Ethnic/World Cultural Dance. The candidate is invited to develop independent work commensurate with the creative goals of the Dance Program. Successful candidate will have opportunities to choreograph for the annual dance concert DanceScapes.

Six productions are mounted each year, including one touring children’s play and one dance concert. Dance students are trained in the technical areas of ballet and contemporary dance, with three levels of each. Creative courses include Improvisation and two levels of Composition. The annual March dance concert consists of work created by guest artists, faculty, and students. The department participates in the American College Dance Festival Association (ACDFA) Conference each year; nine pieces have been selected for performance in ACDFA Gala Concerts in the past ten years. Electronic Media/Broadcast Faculty
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Department of Communication seeks applications for a 9-month, full-time, assistant professor or lecturer with expertise in electronic media and/or broadcast journalism to teach in and share leadership in our recently converged broadcast/print/web journalism emphasis as well as our existing electronic media emphasis. Starting date for the position is August 21, 2013
Duties will include teaching courses such as: electronic media newswriting and production, video production, audio production, fundamentals of electronic media, introduction to mass communication, and senior media capstone project. Coordination of the internship program is also a possibility. There are also opportunities to teach upper-level undergraduate seminars that explore current issues in broadcasting and to teach graduate-level courses.
Minimum Qualifications: An earned Ph.D. in Broadcasting, Journalism, Mass Communication or related field (those with ABD status will be considered). Fluency with contemporary production and editing software is required. Professional experience in broadcast news or production is preferred.

Corporate and Health Communication Assistant Professor
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Department of Communication seeks applications for a 9-month, full-time, tenure-track appointment at the assistant professor level for a candidate with expertise in Corporate and/or Health Communication to teach and conduct research in our new Corporate and Health Communication major. Starting date is August 2013.
Duties will include teaching courses in the Corporate and Health Communication area both at the undergraduate and graduate levels; assisting with the department’s curricular and assessment efforts in Corporate and Health Communication and in forwarding the graduate program; conducting outreach to healthcare and community organizations.
Qualifications for the position are: an earned PhD in Corporate or Health Communication, Organizational Communication or related Communication area (those with ABD status will be considered). The successful candidate will have a proven record of teaching competence and the potential to be a productive scholar.

Journalism Lecturer/Media Advisor
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Department of Communication seeks a lecturer of journalism with expertise in journalism for a multi-platform converged media environment who will also serve as media advisor. Starting date for the position is August 2013.
Duties include teaching digital journalism courses, such as: Writing for the News Media, Journalism for the Web, Public Affairs Reporting and Sports Reporting. There may also be opportunities to teach upper-level undergraduate seminars that explore current issues in journalism. The successful candidate also will serve as advisor to the university’s multiple-platform news publication, the Royal Purple.

Qualifications: Extensive experience in journalism with an emphasis on reporting and editing; M.A. or M.S. in Journalism, Mass Communication or related field.
