Roxa Pritchett
(1892-1966)

Roxa Pritchett came to Whitewater in 1933, and inspired music students for over 30 years.  She was a well-known band director and musician, and taught music in the public schools of Janesville, Edgerton, Milton, Palmyra and Whitewater.  Mrs. Pritchett was a wonderful teacher, who motivated her students to do the very best. 

A graduate of the Academy of Music in Dubuque Iowa, Mrs. Pritchett completed her training at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago.  After retiring from band directing and public school teaching, Mrs. Pritchett continued giving private lessons in her homes for many years.  She was also the first music director of radio station WCLO in Janesville. 

Voted both “Outstanding Citizen” and “Woman of the Year” in Whitewater, Mrs. Pritchett influenced countless lives with her work and enthusiasm.  Her passion for music and excellence continues to impact lives with the Roxa Prideaux Pritchett Scholarship, intended for well-rounded music students.
