Dr. Patricia Townsend Scholarship

Professor Emeritus Patricia Townsend, a member of the UW-Whitewater Communication faculty for thirty-two years, established the Dr. Patricia Townsend Scholarship in 2007.  During her tenure with UW-Whitewater Dr.Townsend served as Chair of the Communication Department, Associate Dean of the newly formed College of Arts and Communication and Acting Dean of the College of Arts and Communication.

Dr. Townsend’s active participation on such university committees as the Faculty Senate, the Graduate Council and chairing the General Education Committee, the University Honors Council, the Faculty Promotions Committee earned her the UWW Faculty Service Award.  She was active in state, regional, and national Communication associations serving as President of the Wisconsin Communication Association and receiving their Andrew T. Weaver Outstanding College Educator Award for 1986.

This scholarship recognizes and rewards high academic achievement to assist in recruiting and maintaining the academically talented students for the Communication Department.
