Robert K. Webb Family Scholarship webb

Robert K. Webb

Dr. Robert Karl Webb received his undergraduate and doctorate degrees from the University of Illinois in Urbana. Prior to his appointment at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, he taught in the public schools of Moberly, Missouri, and was the director of the Hobart, Indiana High School Band. Before his retirement from UW-Whitewater in 1989, Dr. Webb was professor of flute and clarinet, coordinator of the music education faculty and director of the University Flute Choir. The UWW Flute Choir performed under his direction at national and district meetings of the Music Educators National Conference as well as a record number of performances at the Wisconsin State Music Conference.

Dr. Webb conducted many notable flute ensembles, including the National Flute Association Professional Flute Choir, the NFA High School Choir, the NACWPI-NFA Flute Choir, and the combined flute choirs of the U. of Florida and Southern U. of Florida. Dr. Webb was asked to write two arrangements for the Jubilation Flute Orchestra for the celebration of the 25th year of the NFA and the 150th year of the death of Felix Mendelssohn.

The Robert K. Webb Family Scholarship was developed to express appreciation for the years that the Webb family has been associated with Whitewater and the University as well as to help the University Band Program recruit outstanding performers. The scholarships are not intended for one specific instrument, but rather are to be used to help the band director maintain a complete instrumentation for the ensemble.
