Anita Fabos '99fabos

As income development coordinator for the American Cancer Society, Anita Fabos’99 is working toward a cure for a disease that hits close to home; she lost both of her grandfathers to cancer and her 35-year-old cousin has recently been diagnosed with the disease, which causes one out of every four deaths in the U.S. Having been deeply affected by cancer, Fabos describes her work as a "good fit." Besides, "I also enjoy fundraising for a good cause," she said.

Fabos joined the American Cancer Society in 2005. Her major responsibilities include event management, relationship building, financial accountability and fundraising. She organizes five Relay For Life events and one walk-run event per year to raise money to help reach the goal of eliminating cancer completely.

"I love nonprofit event planning. It is rewarding to know that what you are doing is making a difference and because of that hopefully we will find a cure for cancer," Fabos said.
