What’s it like to be that Major?
Part One
This article profiles the many and diverse majors offered by the Communication department. Because the Communication department offers so many majors, this article has been divided into two installments. This first installment includes profiles for the Multimedia Digital Arts, Electronic Media, Print Journalism, Organizational Communication and Public Relations majors.
This installment will give a brief overview of what it’s like to be that kind of major, as well as give testimonials from students who have experience in the major. For those who are undeclared, or those who aren’t sure if their major is really the one they want, read on to gather more information to help you decide. After all, the major you choose will help decide the course of the rest of your life!
(For more information on the broadcast journalism, advertising, and interpersonal communication majors, please check out the next edition of the Communication Department Magazine!)
Multimedia Digital Arts – Communication
The Multimedia Digital Arts major offered by the Communication department is a very broad major. With it, you can take a wide variety of classes, such as audio production, web design and production, video production, and graphic design. Unlike many programs offered by other universities, UW-Whitewater’s Multimedia Digital Arts major enables you learn about three major areas of communication technology: audio, video, and web, with the same major. Many other universities require a separate major for each area of study.
