Creative Entrepreneurship in Today's Economy!
Could talent and creative ideas turn into a business venture? Is it possible to start a creative enterprise in today's current economy? The answer is YES! Join us Friday, November 22, 2013 from 1:00 - 4:30 pm at the Whitewater University Innovation Center, 1221 Innovation Drive, in Whitewater WI for the "Creative Entrepreneurship in Today's Economy" workshop. This is a workshop that can provide a toolbox for turning those creative ideas into a successful enterprise.
This workshop will be facilitated by Christine Harris, CEO of Christine Harris Connections. Ms. Harris has a national reputation based on over 30 years of experience in arts administration and organizational capacity building within the creative economy. She is a recognized regional and national leader in cultural development and creative enterprise. Prior to running the Cultural Alliance of Greater Milwaukee, a nonprofit support and advocacy organization for the arts and culture sector, Christine was the CEO of the United Performing Arts Fund in Milwaukee. Other experience includes Executive Director of the Milwaukee Ballet, and Director of Audience Development for the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.Christine is a consulted advisor and presenter for Americans for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. A panel of creative experts includes: Terrance Coffman, an accomplished artist, author, musician/songwriterDan McGuire, Professor of Sculpture at UW-Whitewater and entrepreneur-in-residence at the Whitewater Innovation CenterEllen Waldmer, Owner of the Rock River Gallery & Coffee HouseRoy Elkins, a well-known music technology entrepreneur and founder and CEO of Broadjam IncNella Citino, a media veteran with over 20 years of experience in the video and broadcast industries Christine and the panelists will discuss what creative enterprise is and the role it is playing in today's economy. They will also explore the motivation behind starting a creative enterprise and practical topics including legal and organizational structures, funding options and available resources. Panelists will also share the challenges and opportunities of running and working with a creative enterprise.
