Michael Howen

Michael graduated in 1998 with a BA from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, with a dual major in Film Studies and Film Production, and a minor in English.  After ten years working as a commercial artist in print, web, multimedia, broadcast design, and motion graphics, he left the commercial art world for immersive studies in character animation through Animation Mentor, iAnimate, and Pixar Master Class workshops. For the next several years, he worked as a freelance artist and taught college courses in animation until acccepting his current position as a lecturer at the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater. Beyond his current full time teaching schedule, he devotes his time to working on personal art projects using a variety of traditional and digital media, and continues to serve as a mentor for his past students.
