Julia Ince
Julia Ince received a PhD in Art History with a minor in American History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1998.  Her dissertation examined the portraiture of early 20th century American artist Robert Henri and focused on the intersection of cultural constructs of ethnic minorities and Progressive Era politics.  Before coming to UW-Whitewater, Julia taught at UW-Parkside in Kenosha and Marquette University in Milwaukee.  She is active in Historic Preservation efforts and her recent research focuses on eighteenth and nineteenth century American domestic architecture.  Julia currently serves as the secretary of the Jefferson County Historic Landmarks Preservation Commission.  She is also a fine artist specializing in oil painting.  She has taught at UW-Whitewater since the fall of 2000.
