2009 Honorary Co-Chairs

Marty van Steenderen, served UW-Whitewater as its first Athletic Director for Women from 1971 to 1986, Under Marty's leadership the women's program grew from an intramural program to a full-fledged intercollegiate athletic program. She worked on the development of the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women and served as President of the Wisconsin Women's Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in 1978. Since her retirement, she has been busy rating golf courses for the United States Golf Association, and serves as the co-captain of the Southwest Florida course rating team. Chancellor Telfer has worked to strengthen retention and graduation rates and played a key role in the establishment of several nationally recognized programs including the Academic Advising and Exploration Center, the Undergraduate Research Program and the McNair Scholars Program.
