Music Department Admission

How do I become a music major?

To become a music major you must do two things. First, you must be admitted to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater through the regular admission process. (UW-Whitewater Admissions) Second, you must audition in front of the UWW music faculty and be accepted into a music major degree progam. Here's a simple overview of the complete admission process:

  1. Application to UW-Whitewater for admission to the university. (UW-Whitewater Admissions Office, or call 262-472-1440)
  2. Application to the Music Department for Audition and Acceptance as a music major, including submitting teacher recommendation forms
  3. Audition for the music major
  4. Register for courses

HOW DO I BECOME A MUSIC MINOR?

Students declaring a music minor are required to gain admission to the Department of Music through an audition.  After being admitted to the University, students first fill out an application to the Department of Music, and are then invited to audition.
