Jazz Ensemble I / Jazz Ensemble II

The UWW Jazz Ensembles are big bands directed by Matt Sintchak, and consist of 4-5 trumpets, 4-5 trombones, two alto saxes, two tenor saxes, baritone sax, piano, bass guitar, and drums. The Jazz Ensembles provide UWW students with the opportunity to rehearse and perform the challenging literature of the modern big band. Typical literature selections include works by: Thad Jones, Ernie Wilkens, Tom Kubis, Duke Ellington, Slide Hampton, Maria Schneider, Jim McNeely, and original works by educators Bret Zvacek, Denis Diblasio, Neil Slater, Glenn Kostur, Frank Mantooth, and Steve Wiest. The group has also worked with many guest artists throughout the years as a wonderful educational and performance opportunity.

Entrance into the UWW Jazz Ensemble is by audition, and is open to all UW-Whitewater students.
