Directed by Matan Rubinstein, The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Jazz Lab is another opportunity for students to take part in the jazz tradition through small group interaction. While essentially a more "entry-level" version of the Symposium, the UWW Jazz Lab is also a very active performance ensemble. Along with their regularly scheduled UWW campus concert during the fall semester, the 1999 Jazz Lab performed gigs in Madison and Whitewater under the "stage name" of the "Whitewater Rafters." The group transcribes, arranges, or composes all of its own material. The UWW Jazz Lab is open to any UWW student by audition only.
