Department of Music
Vocal Jazz Turnaroud is a small, vocal ensemble - comprised of one person/part. The focus will be on vocal jazz literature as well as contemporary a cappella music. Students will work collaboratively with the director, and they will even rehearse some of the time on their own. Some of the objectives of the group are to learn and perform with excellence, as well as developing independent musicianship and rehearsal skills. The ensemble will perform approximately 3-7 times each semester. Admittance is by audition only. Auditions will be held in the first week of classes. The sign-up sheet for auditions will be posted across the hall from CA 1005. Otherwise, you may email Dr. VanAlstine at firstname.lastname@example.org for an audition time. The audition will include a range check, pitch matching, sight singing, and about 60 seconds of a solo. Please bring a copy of your solo for the accompanist. The solo should be in a vocal jazz, musical theatre, or popular genre.
