Clara Christian is a doctoral candidate at Northwestern University and has performed throughout the US and Canada as well as in St. Petersburg, Russia. She studied piano with Ellen Mack during her Masters work at the Peabody Institute where she received a full assistantship and a Career Development Grant. She has won numerous awards including the Musicians Club of Women Nerenburg Scholarship and a Thaivu Isaak Award.
At Northwestern, Ms. Christian studied piano with Alan Chow and collaborative piano with Elizabeth Buccheri. She received her Bachelors of Music from Wheaton College while studying with Daniel Horn. Ms. Christian has performed in various masterclasses and at festivals such as the Bowdoin International Music Festival, Orford Music Festival, and Masterworks Festival. A frequent collaborative artist, she has performed with members of the Lyric Opera Orchestra and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and she is the rehearsal accompanist for the Chicago Master Singers, directed by Alan Heatherington.
Ms. Christian is also on the faculty of the Northwestern Music Academy. She is a guest lecturer of piano pedagogy at Northwestern University and is regularly invited as a guest speaker for music teachers' associations. She was a presenter at the Music Teachers' National Association 2012 National Conference in New York City.
