Biography

Christian K. Ellenwood, Associate Professor of Clarinet, is a passionate recitalist and chamber musician.  Dr. Ellenwood has performed with the Ying Quartet, the Telluride Chamber Music Festival, the San Francisco-based Ives Quartet, the EastWind Quintet, and is frequently heard in live radio broadcasts on Wisconsin Public Radio. Dr. Ellenwood has presented solo and chamber music recitals throughout the United States and Pacific islands of Japan, Guam, and Hawaii. His playing can be heard on the Albany Records release, Music of Chris Theofanidis and on CD projects produced by UW-Whitewater.  One of six finalists in the MTNA Collegiate Artist Woodwind Competition, he has performed as principal clarinetist with the Skylight Opera of Milwaukee, the Woodstock Mozart Festival (IL), Bel Canto of Milwaukee, the Madison Symphony Orchestra, the Madison Opera and the 1992 Eastman Wind Ensemble Japan tour.  Dr. Ellenwood's teaching has been recognized by his students and colleagues. In 2002, he won the Roseman Award, UW-W's highest honor for excellence in teaching.  Dr. Ellenwood is listed in Who's Who Among America's Teachers, 1998 and 2000.
