Jennifer Clare Paulson has been teaching studio viola and violin at UW-Whitewater since 2006. She earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in viola performance at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a minor in jazz studies. Her studies were supported by a University Fellowship and a position as Project Assistant in the graduate string quartet. That quartet also implemented Madison Symphony Orchestra?s Up Close and Musical Program, making more than 24 visits to Madison area public schools each year.
JCP earned a Master?s degree at Northwestern University; her graduate studies included membership in the Civic Orchestra of Chicago for two seasons, where she played under the baton Daniel Barenboim, Pierre Boulez, Pinkas Zukerman, and John Adams among others. She earned her bachelor?s degree at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois where she studied viola and Japanese koto.
She is currently a member of the Madison Symphony Orchestra and has held positions in the Elgin Symphony Orchestra and the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra. In addition to regional work in chamber music and orchestral settings, JCP is also a member of several new music ensembles based in Chicago including PPK, Kyle Bruckmann?s WRACK, The Cavie Creek Scramblers and Guillermo Gregorio?s Madi Ensemble.
