How do I apply? Is there a participation and/or application fee?

There is an application available for download over the HSBF website. Yes, $30.00 payable when sending the registration application.

When is the last day that applications will be accepted?

Applications will be expected until a proper balance of instrumentation has been achieved.

Where is the event held?

All activities for this event will be take place at the Greenhill Center for the Arts at the UWW campus.

Where do I register for the festival?

Registration will take place at 8 a.m. in the atrium of the Greenhill Center for the Arts at the UWW campus.

Do I need to audition? Is there specific music that I should know?

While there is no audition required, a chair placement will occur prior to the first rehearsal.

Will I need to provide music?

Only rehearsal music will be provided. Students will be required to provide their own music for the chair placement.

Where will I eat during the festival?

Participants will be responsible for their own meals and snacks.

Where do I sleep during the festival?

For those individuals not commuting to and from the event, there are several hotels available in the area.

What is appropriate attire for rehearsals and the concert?

There is no dress code, participants are expected to dress appropriately, e.g., no stocking or baseball caps, bare midriffs, etc. Attire for the performance is Semi formal.

What do I do if my instrument breaks?

Plans have yet to be finalized, but the festival is attempting to secure a instrument repair person to be available for specific times.

What activities are available for my parents while I'm in rehearsal and classes?

While there are no formal activities scheduled, parents may contact the office of First Year Experiences and Student Life to inquire as to what might be available to them. Parents will be encouraged to join their child for the Chicago Chamber Musicians concert in the Young Auditorium. Discounts may be available, so make sure to inquire about this before booking your tickets.

Is the final concert open to the public?

The concert is free and open to the public.
