Symphony ORchestra

Chris Ramaekers, conductor

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater has two orchestral ensembles: The University Symphony Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra. The Symphony is open to the entire student body through audition.

In addition to our regular concert season each year, the Symphony Orchestra also tours semi-annually. We perform a variety of music, ranging from selections of the master orchestral composer to contemporary modern pieces. Each year student concerto soloists are selected to perform with the orchestras through the annual concerto competition and members of the music faculty at UW-Whitewater make guest solo appearances with the orchestras.

Rehearsal Schedule: Weekly, Tuesday and Thursday: 3:20 pm - 5:00 pm

Chamber ORchestra

Chris Ramaekers, conductor

The Chamber Orchestra is a select group that performs works from the Baroque through the present day. Great emphasis is placed on musical performance and pedagogy skill development in an intimate setting.

Participation in the Chamber Orchestra is open to the UW-Whitewater student body by audition and requires concurrent participation in the Symphony Orchestra for Music Majors. The Chamber Orchestra performs 2-3 concerts per semester with recent programs including chamber repertoire works of Bach, Handel, Mozart, Britten and Bloch. The Chamber Orchestra also participates with the UW-Symphony's annual concerto competition that highlights the amazing solo talent from among the UW-Whitewater music majors.
