Recital Attendance Policy, Fall 2006
MUSC 100 (0 Credits, S/NC Grades)
An essential component of musical study at the university level is consistent attendance at public performances. The Department of Music requires enrollment in Recital Attendance for an appropriate number of semesters as follows:
- Bachelor of Music in performance

- Bachelor of Music in History/Theory

- Bachelor of Music in Music Education

7 Semesters |
- Bachelor of Arts in Music

6 Semesters |
- Music Minor

4 Semesters |
It is your responsibility to make sure you are enrolled for recital attendance for the appropriate number of semesters for your degree program. You are also responsible to keep track of your attendance throughout the semester. The Music Department will post recital attendance updates during the semester. An email will be sent when the update has been posted on the bulletin board outside of the Music Office, CA 2038. Please verify your status at that time and take steps to ensure that you meet all requirements by the end of the semester.
REQUIREMENTS
Music Majors - Attendance at any 14 events from the attendance options listed below.
Music Minors - Attendance at any 6 events from the attendance options listed below.

- The starred (*) events on the MWF 9:55 Music Convocation Schedule
- Any event on the Music Department Events Schedule
- Selected Irvin L. Young Auditorium Events:
- Sat. Oct. 7, 7:30 pm: Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
- Tues. Oct. 10, 7:30 pm: Pro Arte Quartet
- Mon. Oct. 16, 7:30 pm: Bayaihan Philippine National Dance Company
- Tues. Oct. 24, 7:30 pm: The Royal Drummers of Burundi-Mombasa Party
- Mon. Nov. 6, 7:00 pm (note earlier start time): David Grisman & Old School Freight
- Sat. Nov. 11, 2:00 pm: Lakota Sioux Indian Dance Theatre
- Nov. 21 7:30 pm Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
- Additionally, one attendance at The Rocky Horror Show may be credited for Recital Attendance (dates: Tues. Oct. 10 - Sat. Oct. 14, all shows at 7:30 pm)
- Attendance must be documented by turning in a stamped attendance slip following the performance.
- NO off-campus performances will count toward fulfilling the requirement.
- 9:55 a.m. Student Recitals wherein a student performs, and listens to the other performers, may be credited toward the performer's requirement, but no other events will count for performers.
- If you do not attend the required number of events, you will receive an "NC" for the semester. There will be no incomplete grades given for recital attendance. Recital attendance slips will be used to verify attendance. If for some reason, recital attendance slips are not available, the program should be stamped. Programs must be submitted to the Music Department Office by 4:30 on the next school day following the event in order to be accepted as verification of attendance. Note: items may be placed in the drop off box underneath the mailboxes around the corner from the Music Office if the office is closed.
- One person may turn in only one slip.
- NO credit will be given for slips turned in late.
EXCEPTIONS: Any exceptions to the above requirements must be requested in writing to the Department Chair. Modifications will be considered only in case of extreme hardship.
