Registration
Contact the Associate Dean's Office (CA2030, 262-472-1934) for more information.
First Time Registrants & Readmitted Students
All new students (freshmen and transfer students) must be admitted and attend an orientation and registration program in order to register. Contact the New Student Programs Office (262-472-3205) for information.
Readmitted students do not need to attend an orientation and registration program. They will have a hold from their advising department and must meet with their advisor in order to register (see below for further information.) Before accessing your WINS page, you will need to do a password change. The link to the password change is on the side panel of the UWW web page (uww.edu).
Priority Registration
During Priority Registration, you are assigned registration start times according to your earned credits.
Check WINS for your personal start time. (You are given an end time, but that end time can be ignored. You can continue to register until the end of the first week of class.) If you have forgotten your password, contact the computer HELP desk in L-2003 and bring your ID.
Advising
All College of Arts and Communication majors and some minors have advising holds. Note the specific advising requirements and processes for each major and minor as listed below. Prepare for your appointment by bringing a copy of your AR and a list of questions or concerns. Review the Schedule of Classes to get an idea of what courses you might be interested in. If any area of your AR is bolded, be sure that you know why.
Art Majors and Minors
You have an advising hold. Your advisor's name is listed in your WINS information page. Contact your advisor and make advising appointment early. Once you are advised you will receive a permission slip that gives you access to the Department of Art and Design's Pre-Registration Day process. You must attend this special registration day (usually in mid-semester) in order to obtain access to Art department classes for the next semester. Contact the Department of Art and Design, 262-472-1324, for more information about this process.
Communication Majors (Journalism and Speech--includes print, broadcast, public relations, advertising, electronic media, interpersonal, international and organizational emphases)
You have an advising hold. To remove that hold you must either participate in the Communication Department's special "marathon" advising process or attend one of its group advising sessions. If you have 90 or more credits, or have both a Communication major and minor, then you must go through the special advising days "marathon" process (usually mid-semester). During this process you will meet with Communication department faculty who will review your AR and plan for next semester's registration. If you have fewer than 90 credits and only have a major (minor in another department) then you must attend one of the Communication Department's group advising sessions. Check with the Communication Department, 262-472-1034, to learn the date and time of these sessions. Communication minors do not have an advising hold. Advertising majors or minors who wish to take Art and Design department classes may have to attend the Department of Art and Design's special pre-registration process. Check with the Department of Art and Design about that process.
Multimedia Majors and Minors (Art track and Communication track)
You have an advising hold. If you are a Communication track Multimedia major or minor then follow the Communication department process. If you are an Art track Multimedia major or minor then follow the Department of Art and Design's procedures.
Music Majors
You have an advising hold. Contact your advisor and make your advising appointment early. Your advisor's name is listed in your WINS information page. If you have not been assigned an advisor, please call your academic department. Use the "Directories" quick link on the UWW homepage to look up your advisor's location, phone and e-mail address. Music minors do not have an advising hold.
Theatre/Dance Majors and Minors
You have an advising hold. Contact your advisor and make your advising appointment early. Your advisor's name is listed in your WINS information page. If you have not been assigned an advisor, please call your academic department. Use the "Directories" quick link on the UWW homepage to look up your advisor's location, phone and e-mail address.
Summer Advising: In the summer or other academic breaks, many faculty advisors are not on campus. If you need advising, contact the chairperson of the department of your major. For general questions, or if you cannot reach the department, contact the Associate Dean's Office at 262-472-1934.
Minors: If you do not have a minor advisor, you should meet with the department chair of your minor area to verify requirements. Art minors must participate in the Department of Art and Design early registration. Contact the Art Dept. for information. Remember that Theatre and Dance minors have holds and must see a Theatre or Dance advisor prior to registration.
Transfer Students: If you are a transfer student with 21 or more credits, or credits for courses that are given a 999 equivalency, you may want to check with the Associate Dean's Office, CA 2030, 472-1934 to verify that your transfer work has been properly credited.
Overrides: If you wish to take more than 18 credits, contact the Associate Dean's Office (CA2030) and fill-out the application form for an overload. The Associate Dean will determine whether you are eligible to take an overload. (Note: there will be a tuition charge for extra credits)
If you wish to get into a closed course, or have a pre-requisite waived, contact the Department Office. They will tell you what the policy and procedure is for that department.
