Megan Matthews teaches arts management courses for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Matthews is involved with the ArtsPeers Advisory network, a peer consulting program which matches established local arts agency administrators with Wisconsin arts organizations for technical assistance. Since 1995, consultancies have included several strategic planning and visioning sessions as well as an arts assessment for the Portage County Arts Alliance with a partner consultant. She has served on the board of the Wisconsin Assembly for Local Arts (WALA) and been a guest speaker on networking and pursuing a career in the arts. She also worked with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources on Communication planning and implementation.
In 1998, Matthews worked extensively on Sesquicentennial-related projects for the Wisconsin Arts Board and the State Historical Society of Wisconsin, including the 1st Governors Cultural Congress, Wisconsin Folklife Festival and the Sesquicentennial Archaeology/Historic Preservation Week. She has served on peer-review panels for various Wisconsin Arts Board Grants programs.
Previously, Matthews worked with the Consortium of Milwaukee Presenters on an arts in education and outreach needs assessment, identifying national models for collaborative educational/outreach programming and creating a model for collaborative programming applicable to the local arts environment. She also worked with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Great Artists Series and as Executive Director of the Council for the Performing Arts in Jefferson Wisconsin. While with the Council, Matthews was involved in the statewide peer network, the Wisconsin Presenters Network (WPN).
